Cookie Policy
Last updated: April 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how Ayima Chat ("the Service"), operated by Ayima UK Ltd ("Ayima", "we", "us", or "our"), uses cookies and similar technologies when you use the Service at ayima.ai, ayima.chat, and associated domains.
What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website. They are widely used to make websites work efficiently and to provide information to site operators. Cookies can be "persistent" (remaining on your device until they expire or you delete them) or "session" cookies (deleted when you close your browser).
How We Use Cookies
Ayima Chat uses only strictly necessary and functional cookies. We do not use any advertising, tracking, or analytics cookies. We do not use any third-party cookie-based tracking services.
All cookies used by the Service are essential to its operation or to remember your preferences.
Cookies We Use
| Cookie | Type | Purpose | Duration | Set By |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| authjs.session-token | Strictly necessary | Stores your authenticated session. Contains a signed JWT token with your user ID and role. Set when you sign in. | Session | Ayima Chat |
| authjs.csrf-token | Strictly necessary | Protects against cross-site request forgery (CSRF) attacks during authentication. | Session | Ayima Chat |
| authjs.callback-url | Strictly necessary | Stores the URL to redirect to after authentication (e.g. the page you were on before signing in). | Session | Ayima Chat |
| anonymous_id | Strictly necessary | A randomly generated UUID that identifies anonymous (non-logged-in) users. Used to associate conversations and credit balances with your browser before you create an account. | 1 year | Ayima Chat |
Local Storage
In addition to cookies, we use your browser's local storage for the following:
| Key | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| theme | Stores your preferred visual theme (Dark, Light, or Ayima). Used to apply your theme immediately on page load to prevent a flash of unstyled content. | Persistent |
| cookie_consent | Records that you have acknowledged this cookie notice. No personal data is stored. | Persistent |
What We Don't Use
Ayima Chat does not use:
- Advertising cookies — we do not serve ads or track you for advertising purposes
- Analytics cookies — we do not use Google Analytics, Hotjar, Mixpanel, or any other analytics tracking on the Service
- Social media cookies — we do not embed social media widgets or tracking pixels
- Cross-site tracking — we do not track your activity across other websites
Third-Party Cookies
If you are redirected to Stripe for payment processing, or to Google for OAuth authentication, those services may set their own cookies during those interactions. These are governed by their respective cookie policies:
These third-party cookies are only set on the third-party's own domain during the redirect — they are not set on Ayima Chat's domain.
Managing Cookies
Since all cookies used by Ayima Chat are strictly necessary or functional, disabling them may prevent the Service from working correctly. Specifically:
- Disabling the session cookie will prevent you from staying signed in
- Disabling the anonymous ID cookie will prevent anonymous conversation history and credit tracking
- Clearing local storage will reset your theme preference
Most web browsers allow you to manage cookies through their settings. You can typically find these options in your browser's "Privacy" or "Security" settings. You can also delete cookies at any time through your browser settings.
Your Rights
Under the UK GDPR and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), you have the right to be informed about how we use cookies and to control their use on your device.
Because we only use strictly necessary and functional cookies (not marketing or analytics cookies), consent is not legally required. However, we still inform you of their use via the cookie notice banner shown on your first visit.
For more information about your data protection rights, see our Privacy Policy.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. If we introduce any non-essential cookies in the future, we will update this policy and seek your consent before setting them.
